Can eye strain from watching TV in the dark help astigmatism?

by David Jenyns

Question by denxxchua: Can eye strain from watching TV in the dark help astigmatism?
If you watch TV in the dark, it’ll give you eye strain. Especially when the colors’ contrast changes too fast for your eyes to ajust. I learned that this does not damage your eyes but just gives it eye strain. Can this “exercise” help astigmatism?
I’ll rephrase the last question.
Can this “exercise” reduce the degree of astigmatism?

Absolutely not. Astigmatism is caused by the particular shape of your cornea. The cornea is not affected by exercise.

xout is right. astigmatism is associated with the shape of your cornea or the shape of your lens, neither of which can be affected by any eye exercise or any amount of “straining”.
