Keeping the monitor 30 inches away, and taking lots of breaks to let your eyes refocus on distance objects.

Get in the habit of looking around the room or out a window if you have one close, every few minutes, even for 15 or 20 seconds will relax your eyes a lot.

Just don’t stayed glued to the monitor for ages…look around often to change the focal length.

Lots of sites about the subject say to use the 20/20/20 rule…every 20 minutes, look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds…but I find it even better to do it every few minutes for maybe 10 seconds, it becomes habit quite fast to just look away.
